Statement Regarding Montgomery County GOP Championing Republican Priorities and Censuring Representative Will Metcalf

CONROE, TX - Last night, the Montgomery County Republican Party took a strong stand for Republican values by censuring House District 16 Representative Will Metcalf.
On November 5, 2024, Montgomery County delivered the greatest margin of victory in all of Texas for President Trump and Republicans. Will Metcalf then betrayed the trust of his constituents by joining forces with Texas House Democrats, breaking Republican Caucus bylaws to elect a Speaker of the House who immediately ceded greater power and almost $3 million to his Democrat allies. Metcalf squandered the Republican Majority in the Texas House, and now, he is being held accountable for that betrayal.
Jon Bouché has announced his candidacy for Texas House District 16 in the 2026 election to ensure that HD16 has a Representative who will represent their values.
“I applaud the Montgomery County GOP for their bold defense of Republican priorities and our community’s values,” said Bouché. “Protecting our border, ensuring educational freedom, and providing property tax relief for Texans will be among my top priorities if elected. Representative Dustin Burrows’ election as Speaker of the Texas House is a devastating blow to conservative Texans. His reputation as a RINO was cemented today, thanks in no small part to the treacherous actions of Representative Will Metcalf, who worked hand-in-hand with Democrats to undermine the will of Republican voters.
“Will Metcalf’s betrayal of conservative values and his constituents is unforgiveable,” said Jon Bouché. “By aligning with Democrats and enabling Dustin Burrows, he has shown his true colors as a self-serving politician who cares more about power than principle.”
Burrows’ track record reveals a disturbing pattern of yielding to liberal pressures. With Metcalf’s help, today’s outcome threatens to derail the conservative agenda Texans fought so hard to secure.
